Cruach Ardrain

Parked at the car park at Inverlochlarig and walked up the road for about a kilometer and crossed a stile followed by a small hydroelectric installation. Before turning left up a steep incline covered in grass and bracken. We met the ridge as the cloud descended and hindered visibility as we headed up to the cairn at the peak of Beinn Tulaichean where we bumped into 3 fellow hikers, the first people we had seen all day. Walking through the low cloud to the north along the ridge we followed a clearly defined path with a few ups and downs, up to the peak at Cruach Ardrain around 2k further north. We then doubled back on ourselves and headed around a kilometer back down the path to the south, the sun came out and offered some nice photo opportunities. Turning south-east across grass and boggy patches before meeting the dirt track back to Inverlochlarig; which follows the Inverlochlarig burn which was quite picturesque in the changing weather as the sun broke through the cloud. Before finishing the hike back at the car park. We set up a camp in the trees, had some chicken and rice, before bedding down for the night. 18-08-2020
